The Islamic Lunar Calendar, Introduction

“According to Islamic tradition, a new month or a new year can only be announced when the new crescent moon appears in the night sky and is seen by two reliable witnesses.”

The Islamic (Hijri) calendar is based on the lunar cycle, which means that each month is either 29 or 30 days (but never 28 or 31). Compared to the Western Gregorian calendar that makes it shorter by 10 or 11 days each year. The result is that every year the Islamic calendar ‘moves back’ compared to the Western year.

When justice is absent – what can be a healing?

“If nothing flies, then at least let your imagination fly free and the rest may follow.”

Last months I received a devastating email from the UK by a woman who was raped by her husband, for which he was convicted to a six year prison term. But instead of being able to live her life from here on, her children were taken off her to be force adopted. UK Social Services alledge that she has “psychological issues post trauma” and “that she allowed herself to be raped”.

On the Spiritual Health of Women

I have encountered a couple of female impersonations of dark female archetypes over the last years. All had much pain to carry and all had to endure much abuse by men and their legal, administrative and social systems, but also much pain and abuse through and by themselves.
